Step 1) From the backend of your site, hover over Appearance in the left-hand sidebar. It is typically toward the middle of the page. Out of the options that appear, click on Menus.

Step 2) Select the menu you wish to edit from the dropdown, or create a new menu by clicking on the link. By default, the site’s main menu will be the current one open.

Step 3) Name your menu. Simply type whatever you want your menu to be named in the text box next to Menu Name. If you’re editing an existing menu,  there’s no need to do this unless you wish to change the name.

Note: If you’re making a new menu, the other options on the page will be greyed out unril you add a name.

Step 3) Add items to your menu. You can do this by clicking on the checkbox next to an item or items you want to add to your menu, and then clicking Add to Menu. The items you chose will appear where it says Add menu items from the column on the left above. You can drag and drop them in whatever order you see fit. You can also indent them to make them sub-items of other menu items.

The two tabs on the list of columns you are going to interact with the most are going to be Pages and Custom Links. Pages will automatically link to pages you have on your site, whereas Custom Links will allow you to have the menu item link to whatever you choose. You can also customize the title of the menu item (as in what it desplays in the menu as), but Pages will default to whatever the page title is.

If you wish to edit or remove any items that are on your menu, simply click on the dropdown arrow on the item, and it’s details will open up. You’ll be able to edit the title and link. You can also remove that item from your menu by clicnking on Remove at the bottom of the item’s details.

To display your menu, click on of the three checkboxes that say Primary MenuSecondary Menu, or Footer MenuPrimary Menu will appear at the top of your page, Secondary Menu will either appear as a sidebar or below primary, and Footer Menu will appear in the footer. All of these settings are adjustable in the Theme Customizer.
